Outstanding Alumni Testimonial: Dr. Drew Morrow, ’78
Dr. Drew Morrow, ’78, is a clinical cardiologist at Cardiology Associates of Mobile. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 1982, completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1986, completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in 1989, and completed a cardiology fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 1992. He is a fellow of The American College of Cardiology and The American College of Physicians, and is a member of The Medical Association of The State of Alabama and The Mobile County Medical Society. He has volunteered with the American Heart Association and is a member of the Mystic Society.
Dr. Morrow is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John A. Morrow of Anniston. He and his wife, Miriam, have two children – daughter Emily Larkin Morrow is a senior at Vanderbilt University and son John Andrew Morrow, III, is a sophomore at Auburn University. He currently resides in Mobile, Alabama.
What is your favorite memory during your time as a student at the Anniston Academy/The Donoho School?
I have many fond memories of my excellent teachers at the Anniston Academy/ The Donoho School (I bridge that gap). I am so grateful for the academic preparation I received there. I also feel honored to be a representative of what was really a great class at the school. One of my classmates has been chosen previously, and many others are as deserving.
One of my favorite memories is of my soccer coach, coach Mohr. He was so happy when I received the Student Athlete Award. He said it was the first time one of his soccer players had won that trophy.
If you could leave one piece of advice to future Donoho students, what would that be?
When you are looking to move on to the next level, look and apply broadly- not just where you think you “can get in.” Keep your horizons and opportunities open. Look around the country and the world. Go to the best place available. Apply this same advice at every new level of advancement.
