Christine Ankrom, a senior at The Donoho School, has been honored for her exemplary voluntary service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. Christine participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of The Donoho School.
“I am an extremely active volunteer. I successfully completed HOBY’s Leadership for Service 100 Hour Challenge my junior year, and I plan on doing it again my senior year,” says Ankrom. “I did more than 116 hours my junior year, and have completed more than 72 hours this summer (prior to senior year).” Her volunteer work includes giving of her time and talents to sixteen organizations in Calhoun County.

More than 345,000 young people across America have been considered for these awards since the program began in 1995.
