Scholar-Athlete of the Week: Samuel Garner
Junior Samuel Garner is a linebacker and wide receiver for the varsity football team and a member of the varsity golf team. This season he led the team in tackles with 19 against Jacksonville Christian Academy.
Samuel carries a 3.7 GPA and scored a 27 on the ACT. His two favorite subjects are English and History. When asked why these were this two favorite, he comments, “Because I’ve been a good writer all my life, and I love everything about history.”
He plans to attend the University of Alabama, but is undecided on a college major or future career plans.
He is a member of the Spanish Club, Science Club, FCA/FCS, Focus Group, Discovery Club, Mu Alpha Theta and the Knox Concert Service Committee. He is also a volunteer in vacation Bible schools at Parker Memorial Baptist Church and Golden Springs Baptist Church.
Samuel is the son of Mr. Tim Garner and Mrs. Christina Garner and brother to Anna-Elizabeth Garner, ‘17. When asked who was his greatest influence, he says, “My parents push me to strive for the best in whatever I do, and academics and athletics are no exception. However, in the Garner household it’s always academics first, then athletics.”
