Donoho Welcomes New Faculty

It is with great pleasure that we welcome eight new faculty members and one new staff member to the Donoho family. They are a talented and experienced group of educators, and we are thrilled they will be calling Donoho home.

Lower School

Jamie Clendenin (2nd Grade)

A graduate of JSU with a BS degree in Elementary Education, Jamie comes to us from Weaver Elementary School where he was Teacher of the Year in 2016-2017 as well as Calhoun County Teacher of the Year for the same period. Jamie has also been appointed as Director of Volleyball for all of Donoho. He will coach the Varsity team but also oversee all aspects of Volleyball at the school. He has coached many of our student-athletes previously as co-owner of the SouthJamm Volleyball Club.

Kerry Anderson (3rd Grade)

Kerry joins us after two years of substitute teaching at Kitty Stone Elementary School while completing her Masters of Science in Education from JSU. Kerry completed an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University and worked as a full-time elementary teacher in Idaho for many years. Kerry is AMSTI certified and has also taught music extensively as she is an accomplished piano and guitar player.

Angie Kelly (4th Grade)

Angie comes to us after 25 years of teaching in Calhoun County, primarily at White Plains Middle School and Weaver Elementary School. A two-time National Board Certified Teacher, Angie received a BS in Early Childhood Education from JSU, an MS in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama, and has continued studies at both Alabama and JSU. She has been Teacher of the Year numerous times at White Plains and Weaver, Technology Teacher of the Year for Calhoun County, is a seven-time recipient of a Westinghouse Grant and has received countless other awards and accolades. In addition to her classroom duties, she will be an integral part of the Lower School Robotics program.

Kristie Minish (Academic Support Teacher)

Kristie will be joining us part-time providing Academic Support to the Lower School. Kristie was part of our community this past year tutoring many of our students. A graduate of Samford University with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Special Education, Kristie had previously worked at the Greengate School (now part of The Randolph School), as a Kindergarten Teacher and Reading Therapist for Dyslexia and has an extensive background as a private tutor in Huntsville prior to moving to Anniston.

Upper School

Jennifer Jones (US English)

Jenny comes to us from Faith Christian School where she has been teaching Upper School English for the past four years. Jenny received both her BS and her MS in Education from JSU (Magna Cum Laude) and has completed an additional 18 hours of graduate work in English. Jenny has also been very active in Writer’s Bowl.

Deedee Henderson (US Mathematics)

DeeDee comes to us from Oxford High School where she has been teaching for the past 27 years. DeeDee has a BS and MS in Mathematics Education from JSU, an Educational Specialist Degree from JSU, and is a National Board Certified Teacher of Mathematics. DeeDee has twice been named Alabama Secondary Teacher of the Year for District 4. She has traveled the country training for Casio on the use of graphing Calculators, has been an AP College Board Reader for Calculus for the past 9 years, and has had classrooms activities published by Glencoe as part of their Algebra II with Trigonometry textbook.

Alexis Sheriff (MS Mathematics)

Alexis joined us for the final few weeks of school this past year and will continue as a part-time math teacher in the Middle School. Alexis received her BS in Mathematics from the University of West Georgia where she was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon and an Ingram Scholar. She received her MS in Mathematics from JSU and will continue pursuing her Doctorate in Mathematics while working part-time at Donoho.

Jennie Wall (Choir Director)

Well-known to the Anniston community, Jennie joins us this year to lead the Donoho choir and work with Mrs. Burrage on the musical. Jennie received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Voice Performance) from Birmingham-Southern and her Master’s Degree in Music (Voice Performance) from the University of Tennessee. An accomplished performer and instructor for the past 35 years, Jennie, and her students have won numerous state and national accolades, and many have gone on to study music in college.

Donald Haywood (Bus Driver)

We are pleased to have Donald join us this year as our new bus driver. Donald recently retired as a long-time correctional officer, supervisor, and investigator primarily in Talladega after receiving his Associate Degree in Applied Science Law Enforcement from Gadsden State. He recently received his Bachelor’s of Theology from Titus Baptist College.
