The Donoho School mountain bike team finished 13th out of 30 teams in the Alabama Interscholastic Cycling Association’s Space Race in Huntsville on Sunday.
Senior Libby Davis was the highest finisher for Donoho. She was third in the varsity girls competition. Sallie-Grace Hodge raced in the sophomore division. Tenth-graders Bryant Barrentine and James Perry competed in the sophomore category and Garret Green rode in the junior varsity division. The high school riders helped Donoho come in 13th place Sunday.
In the middle school division, Donoho sixth-grader Emma Obermaier had a top five finish. Donoho sixth-grade boys John Larkin Perry, Jack Ballard, K.B. Benkwith and Matthew Belcher competed in the Space Race, which was contested on the grounds of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Donoho seventh-grader Emily Poe was unable to compete in Sunday’s race.
The was the third race of the Alabama Interscholastic Cycling Association’s season. Donoho races again on April 30 at the Rumble on the Ridge at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham. The championship race — the Feud at the Furnace – is May 7 at Tannehill State Historic Park in McCalla.
