Students are seeing needs in our local community and taking action. Concern for Others is one way they’re harnessing their ability to make a difference. Concern for Others is a long-standing Middle/Upper school program in which students may donate a minimum of $2 and enjoy casual dress. Sophomore, Leyden Orth, saw a need at the Cheaha Regional Humane Society and brought it to Mr. Connell’s attention.
“Seeing innocent animals being killed due to lack of supplies is what really drove me to propose this idea to Mr. Connell,” said Leyden. “I’ve always been tender-hearted toward animals, and seeing them being killed for preventable reasons affected me. As soon as this came to my attention, I knew Mr. Connell would be willing to help make a difference.”
Tuesday, September 19th, Olivia Davis, the school’s SGA President, presented Tom Wright of the Cheaha Regional Humane Society with a check on behalf of the student body. Mr. Wright spoke to the student body about the many ways in which students (and adults) can volunteer at the local non-profit organization.
