Blake Willingham, is a 2021 graduate of Donoho and was the only senior on the baseball team. They were Runner-Up in the baseball state championship his senior year. He is now a junior at Birmingham-Southern College and pitcher for the baseball team. There has been lots of buzz and hype around this team the last two weeks. Birmingham-Southern closed on May 31st, yet their baseball team continued playing, winning as Super Regional Champs in Ohio, and securing their spot in the college world series even fighting through sickness. Blake was one of the players who had to receive IV fluids in the emergency room that weekend. This team has so much to be proud of in advancing to the NCAA 2024 Division III College World Series and winning on June 1st, the day after the school closed its doors. While they had a heartbreaking loss on Sunday, we sure were happy to cheer the team on as well as continuing to root hard for Donoho alumnus Blake. What a team. What a story.
