ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Daniel McCarty ‘07
Daniel is a corporate attorney in the New York office of the law firm Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP. In this role, he advises U.S. and international insurers on a wide range of insurance regulatory and corporate matters including InsurTech and the federal government’s involvement in insurance.
Prior to joining Drinker Biddle, Daniel served as a policy adviser for the United States Department of the Treasury. In that capacity, he was senior adviser to the Director of the Federal Insurance Office and regularly met with senior Treasury leadership to discuss insurance policy and regulation at the state and federal levels. While at Treasury, Daniel co-authored a series of reports on modernizing financial regulation that resulted in hundreds of recommendations to the President and Congress. He also served as the Designated Federal Official of the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance and was a U.S. delegate at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Daniel graduated from The Donoho School, received a B.S. in Economics from Auburn University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, and a Master of Law (LLM) in taxation from New York University. He attributes Donoho’s strong commitment to developing well-rounded leaders as a factor in establishing a strong foundation upon which to build and invites any students who think they may have a passion for law or civil service to reach out.
